The Hague Festivals Second Best Festival in World
Ernst van den Berg (Municipality of The Hague) receives the silver Grand Pinnacle out of the hands of the IFEA chairman.
The 2009 edition of The Hague Festivals was one of the big winners at the prestigious Pinnacle Awards held 23 September in Indianapolis, Indiana (U.S.). The Hague Festivals was awarded the Silver Grand Pinnacle, which means it was crowned as the second best festival in the world.
In addition, the festival received prizes in no less than 15 categories at the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards during the 54th conference of the IFEA (International Festivals & Events Association) in Indianapolis.
Pinnacle Awards
The annual Pinnacle Awards are aimed at the marketing and promotion of festivals over the entire world. This year more than 2,000 events were sent in by festival organisations. Besides the Silver Grand Pinnacle, The Hague Festivals also won gold for the Festival Paper, the flags and banners, the mobile festival guide, the TV West Festival Television News, the Festival Classique broadcast by the AVRO and a typical Dutch invention: a bike saddle cover.
Deputy Mayor Frits Huffnagel (City Marketing) said, “Once again The Hague Festivals has received international recognition with these prizes. It is an unparalleled achievement that we have won this number of prizes in three years time.” The Hague Festivals puts The Hague on the map at a national and international level.
