The Hague region had the best performing economy

The Hague region had the best performing economy in the Netherlands in 2009 according to Rabobank’s annual Regio Top 40 ranking.

The industrial regions in the Netherlands were particularly hard hit by the economic crisis last year. Many services, particularly the public sector, were less affected by the crisis than the industrial and transport sector.

This explains The Hague region’s relatively good performance as services and the government are strongly represented there. The recession could be felt all over the Netherlands last year.
