Dutch among the happiest Europeans

The Dutch are among the most satisfied people in Europe about their quality of life, according to new research by the European Commission. The Commission’s new social climate report shows that the highest level of satisfaction was reported in Denmark, followed by Sweden and the Netherlands. The report shows the Dutch are particularly happy about their personal situation, jobs, home, cost of living, health care and social security systems. When asked about specific public policies, Europeans are broadly satisfied with healthcare provision, with people in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg most satisfied. Europeans are less satisfied about the way their public administrations are run and the way inequalities and poverty are addressed in their country. Only the Netherlands and Luxembourg registered a positive score on the approach to poverty in their country.
